Uryuu Ishida

Uryuu Ishida Bleach Major character
Uryū Ishida (石田 雨竜, Ishida Uryuu)

Uryuu Ishida is a supporting character in the anime and manga series Bleach. He is in the same class as Ichigo, yet in the beginning of the series he and Ichigo were not really friends. Ishida is not simply a normal highschooler, we later find out that Ishida is the last of the Quincy.

Ishida Uryuu in the beginning of the series appears rather withdrawn, shy and quite but can sometimes act high and mighty when around Ichigo (which only proves to annoy Ichigo) Ishida seems to never interact with anyone at school and hardly speaks to anyone. He wears glasses and is the top student in school giving him a kind of ‘nerdy’ air. He always seems to be serious and refuses to participate in things that he finds childish, and yet he is member of the fine arts club, where he patches up stuffed animals and sews clothes for them.

Ishida has black hair in the manga and blue-ish in the anime and he wears it longer in front then the back. He wears glasses (sometimes they refer to him as four-eyes) and has very pale skin compared to the rest of the characters.

Ishida is not a normal teenager, he is a Quincy and lives by the moral ethic known as the Pride of the Quincy (note the word pride, another of his characteristics) Ishida is in the beginning reluctant to help Ichigo in his quest, but his strong sense of justice eventually makes him join Ichigo and the rest.

Ishida also loves to try and act cool in front of people (even though some of them like Ichigo are not so impressed) for example wearing a cloak that has no other purpose then being aesthetically appealing.

Surprisingly, Ishida seems to be very poor even though his father owns a hospital (he does not even have enough money to buy a cellphone). Like Orihime and Chad, Ishida lives alone. Ishida does not have a good bond with his father but we know that he had great respect and love towards his grandfather who also showed him the way of the Quincy.
