The Bleach manga was first released in August of 2001 in Japan's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. New Japanese chapters are featured weekly in the same magazine; 259 chapters have been released as of January 19, 2007. The manga has been compiled into 25 tankōbon by Shueisha. The first volume of the manga has sold over 1.25 million copies in Japan, and the series as a whole has sold over 34 million volumes.[1][2] In 2005, Bleach was awarded the prestigious Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category.[3]
Karin Kurosaki
Karin is the younger sister of Ichigo and the older twin of Yuzu. She is cynical, sarcastic and loves to play soccer and excels in it. Actually, her kicks are so powerful so that she can even fight weaker hollows and defeat them with her kick. She is also very spiritually aware and can see ghosts and Shinigami. But Karin acts coolly when it comes to the subject of ghosts claiming that she does not believe in them even though she can see them. She later on confronts Ichigo telling him that she knows that he is a Shinigami and wonders why he is suffering so much.Karin tries to act all cool and grown up at times acting like she does not really care. But we late discover that her attitude became like that after their mother died and Karin became very adult like and decided to become a responsible person.
Her name is a homonym in Japanese for the fruit quince, just like Ichigo’s name is for strawberry.
